Title: The lifetime of silicon power devices

Speakers:
Ján Halaj Qualification Laboratory leader, Semikron-Danfoss s.r.o.,
Ján Sitár Program Manager for Funded Projects, Semikron-Danfoss s.r.o.

Abstract: This study investigates the lifetime and reliability of IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) baseplate modules by evaluating their power cycling capabilities. A comparative analysis of different die-attachment and baseplate-attachment technologies, specifically soldering and sintering, is performed to assess their impact on device longevity. The collected lifetime data is subjected to Weibull analysis for robust lifetime modeling. Furthermore, the investigation identifies various failure modes, focusing on the degradation of attachment layers and bonded contacts, which are critical factors in module wear-out and failure.

Title: Overcoming electronics manufacturing challenges with the Openair-Plasma®

Speaker:
Petr Tichý Sales & Application manager for Czech and Slovak republic, Plasmatreat Austria GmbH

Abstract: Electronics manufacturing faces ever-increasing demands for miniaturization, reliability, and process stability, with surface quality often representing a hidden factor influencing overall quality and yield. Openair-Plasma® enables targeted surface treatment and helps improve the reliability and stability of subsequent manufacturing processe s – from wafer processing and electronic assembly to final component assembly. The presentation will showcase practical applications of plasma technology in electronics, including surface treatment and cleaning, activation prior to bonding or coating, and the removal of oxide layers using the REDOX® Tool.

Title: AI-based vehicle matching enhancement for parking systems

Speaker:
Ing. Marián Koprda R&D Department head, Parking Solutions, Scheidt & Bachmann Slovakia

Abstract: Scheidt & Bachmann company is working on the Car Re-identification project, which is an AI-based vehicle matching enhancement for parking systems. It aims to improve entry/exit transaction pairing by comparing vehicle images when license plate recognition alone is not enough. The work included dataset creation, model development, validation, and live PoC evaluations to measure operational benefit in real installations. In the presentation will be shown outcome from the live PoC evaluations.

Title: Innovation Does Not Happen in Isolation: From the Lab to the Market

Speaker:
Ing. Anna Krišková, PhD., MBA Innovation & Technology Transfer Manager, Inovačné centrum INOVIA

Abstract: High-quality research, a promising technology, or a strong business idea does not automatically lead to successful innovation. The journey from an initial idea to a solution with real-world applications requires the effective integration of expertise, market needs, entrepreneurial capabilities, suitable partners, funding, and opportunities for pilot testing and validation. This talk will explore the importance of regional innovation ecosystems and the role of INOVIA in creating the conditions for innovations to emerge, develop, and find practical application. Drawing on examples from educational, incubation, and acceleration programmes, as well as mentoring and collaboration-facilitation activities, it will demonstrate how academia, established companies, startups, public institutions, and other partners can be effectively connected. The talk will also address the barriers that prevent promising ideas from moving beyond the laboratory and into practice, while sharing INOVIA’s experience in building collaboration as an essential foundation for future technology transfer. The aim of the talk is to demonstrate that innovation does not happen in isolation. It is the result of effective relationships, mutual trust, and long-term collaboration between people and organisations capable of connecting technological possibilities with the real needs of markets and society.
